About Kate


I began the practice of Yoga to heal from physical injury and since that time Yoga has become a way of life. After practicing Yoga for over 15 years, I trained with Chris Chavez and went on to mentor with Christine Price Clark to become an Anusara Inspired teacher. I then furthered my studies through the Ashtanga and Classical Prᾱṇᾱyᾱma Practice systems at Centered Yoga Thailand with Paul Dallaghan and Sri O.P. Tiwari of Kuvalayᾱdam. I am a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 registered teacher with well over 1100 hours of ongoing teacher trainings and education in the following:

My path to teaching began as an intention to deepen my practice. Soon after, I sustained a brain injury in a devastating downhill mountain biking accident and I suffered from Post-Concussion Syndrome. It changed my direction in life from practicing law and advising multinational business ventures to serve a deeper purpose through sharing my love of Yoga. Yoga practice and teaching was and continues to be my healing and inspiration. I truly believe our greatest challenges are our most profound blessings in life.

In addition to my practices and training, I am the Founder and Director of Misurka Yoga and honored to lead our dedicated team of inspiring teachers. I have developed and taught my own programs including Yoga4Stiff Guys™, Yoga4Stiff People™, workshops and public classes at YYoga, as well as international workshops in the USA and Europe. I also mentor teachers and dedicated practitioners in their self-practice and teachings through one-on-one education and teacher trainings.

Life is full of twists and turns. Right after returning from teaching workshops in Europe in 2012, I sustained a second brain injury. Since that time I have been on a journey of healing – physically, mentally, and spiritually. Adapting to the ongoing realities of living with a brain injury has been full of ups and many deep downs. Looking back on my journey thus far, I believe it is truly a gift when we are faced with challenges were we have no choice but to dig deep. It is not pretty and sometimes uber messy – but it is a gift. The gift of humanity we all share.  I am so grateful to the Yoga community, my teachers, students, friends and family who continue to support me on what appears to be a lifelong journey of finding balance and harmony living with brain injury. Without the practice of yoga my level of functioning diminishes greatly. My practice is my rock, my foundation, my root. I truly do not believe I would be where I am today without it.

Sharing the gift of Yoga with you is an honor and I am humbled that I am asked to do so. Above all else it is of the utmost importance to me that our Misurka Yoga programs are accessible to everyone. It is my hope that through Misurka Yoga and our wide range of Yoga offerings that no matter who you are or where you are in this life or your practice we may assist you in being true to your ‘Self’.
